Travel insurance 'so important' for sports holidays
22nd April 2008
People planning to go on a holiday which will involve various activities should definitely take out a travel insurance policy.
That is according to Sportstours.co.uk, which has asserted that any travellers going on a break which involves sport of any kind should make sure they are covered for "playing and practising".
Steven Dacosta, director of the sports tours operator, said that it is worth looking into specifically tailored polices which can cover more specialised activities that often involve the use of expensive equipment.
He explained: "Make sure that you travel with holiday insurance which covers you for the playing and practising of sport. [A tailor-made policy can cover] you for any accident you may have while you are away. It covers a certain degree of specialist equipment in case it does get lost or stolen."
A press release issued by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in mid-January revealed that 31 per cent of British travellers fail to take out holiday insurance which covers the sports which they intend to take part in.
